Hervé Legeay

Hervé Legeay is a French guitarist and singer. He was born in Angers and began playing guitar at the age of 12, inspired by rock bands such as the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin. He also studied classical guitar at the conservatories in Tours and Angers, while singing in the chorus at the Théâtre Musical d'Angers.

Early in his career, he played in rock bands such as Les Nights and the Stepping Stones, and toured Europe and the United States as the opening act for Iggy Pop, the Ramones, and David Bowie. He later discovered gypsy jazz through the guitarist Romane and taught at the Atla School in Paris. He also formed his own band, Merco Swing, with Félix Belleau and Fred Loizeau.

Hervé Legeay has collaborated with numerous artists, including Sanseverino, whom he has accompanied on guitar since 2001, as well as Francis Lemarque, Pierre Barouh, Les Têtes Raides, Maurane, and Patricia Kaas. He also composes music for the theater, notably for the Comédie Française. His musical style is eclectic, ranging from rock to classical music, including jazz, Brazilian music, and opera.

He has recorded regularly with Jean-Jacques Birgé since 1992 (Chansons, Carton, Le Centenaire, etc.).
