Michèle Buirette

Accordionist. Whether performing solo, in a duo, a trio, or with guest artists, Michèle has always loved well-crafted words. So why not accompany them with her accordion? Delightful verses by poets such as Desnos, Queneau, and Prévert; lyrics by Dominique Fonfrède or storyteller Gigi Bigot; and, finally, her own... For while she is an accordionist and composer, Michèle has come to write the lyrics to her own songs, taking great pleasure in singing them herself. Through some twenty original works since 1989 (including three for young audiences), she has collaborated with choreographers, directors, painters, and musicians, also engaging in improvisation and musical theater before devoting herself to songwriting. Her eclectic and multidisciplinary career has found its full expression here.
In 1985, she released La mise en plis on the GRRR label, then with the trio Pied de Poule, before embarking on a solo career.

She has also collaborated on projects by Jean-Jacques Birgé and Un Drame Musical Instantané. She is the mother of Elsa Birgé.
